Mi Tierra and the Liberty Bar (VIDEOCAST)

San Antonio, Texas, two bars- one on the south side, and one on the north, both with completely different vibes. Mi Tierra is a long time Tex-Mex favorite for locals and visitors alike. And the Liberty Bar has been located, until recently, in a ramshackle building that is, as one reviewer wrote, “over 100 years old and looks every minute of it”.

  1. I own this building Dennis and possibly back in 1890 there was alot of unskilled labor but as the prominent San Antonio engineer we use-Mr Jim Bradley has stated you cannot find better materials used compartively to the softer woods used in today's times. The leaning of the building is due to the flood of 1921. My great great grandfather's name was Fritz Boehler pronounced Baylor. I can only assume you received your info from employees/management from Liberty Bar and yes the original name of the establisment was Liberty Schooner Saloon which Dwight Hobart chose to use and shorten to Liberty Bar. I really enjoyed this clip as MiTierra's has been a fav of mine too!
